How can I migrate my encrypted gpassman files to ascii?

You can attempt to hack on the gpassman source to add a plain text export function. Or you can use fpm. The nice people who wrote fpm took the trouble of writing a gpassman import module.

Fpm itself can then export the plain text to an xml formatted file or to a simple ascii file. You can then use a more sensible method for managing long lists of authentication credentials. Something with stronger crypto than rc2 hopefully.

Take a look at fpm-0.60/src/import_gpasman.c or just use the built in import/export functions.

If you're thinking about using gpassman, don't do it. Stay away from it. It's horrid abandon ware. Save yourself some trouble and just don't use gpassman.
